Vocal Tag offers a unique Tag system for research institutes only. The system comprises ID Tags that includes Rumination and Activity sensors.

Vocal Tag is a first-class option for inexpensively gathering accurate research data-for a single animal or for a whole herd. Value Data regarding a cow's Health (Appetite Rate), Welfare and Nutrition (Effective Fiber Intake) is easily and cost-effectively achieved by continuously measuring the Rumination Rate of the animal in a simple and fully automatic method.

About the Tag

The tag is simply hung on the cow's neck. A bound weight on the collar secures the tag in its proper position at the upper side of the cow's neck.

The tag is equipped with two sensors that continually measure both the Rumination Activity of the cow and its body movement for heat indication purposes.
Communication between the Tags and the end user software is based on infrared communication technology.

Data of the Rumination Meter

The data captured by the Rumination Meter with 97% accuracy includes:

Rumination Time in minutes

Chewing rhythm

Seconds between boluses

Data of the Activity Meter

The Activity Meter captures the number of the cow's body movements per unit of time. This unique sensor operates by a novel infrared technology and has an accuracy of more than 90% heat detection in comparison to observation.

Both sensors are in one Tag and provide accurate data down to two hours resolution. Each Tag contains an ID number that is transmitted together with the raw data, ensuring proper identification of the cow being examined.

For research targets,
as an on-line indicator, the Tag is equipped with a small red lamp that blips when rumination occurs.

The Life span of a Tag is up to 8 years. Vocal Tag provides 1 year of full warranty and additional 5 years of progressive warranty.

Communication System

The Tag's built-in infrared transmitter communicates that transmits required data to a special antenna located above the cow. The antenna can be positioned above a pass-way or water trough, or above each stall in the milking parallel as depicted in the illustrations:

Software, Data Flow

Software is very flexible, with standard deviation and raw data, in graph or in numerical data that can be easily shifts to Excel files. The user can set all parameters.
