Overview
Market Application:
The regions at the top of the milk production league are in Europe,
North America and Oceania.
We are now witnessing a gradual shift in milk production, as the consumption
of dairy products increases rapidly in South America, Asia and the
Middle East. Some other regional giants such as India, Brazil, and
Russia are beginning to enter the modern milk-production arena.
The growth of the non-traditional markets is accompanied by a radical
change in the agricultural sector of the industrialized world in recent
years. The number of dairy farms has decreased dramatically, while
the remaining farms have grown in size and developed increasingly
streamline operations.
Chosen Market Niche:
Company defines the farms that we expect to use our technology
as follows:
1. For the most immediate efforts, farms in USA,
EU, and Oceania in this order of precedence. We believe that marketing
efforts in countries elsewhere should be postponed to the future
2. Target farms should have at least 200 cows in
their herds and an average production of 4000 liters of milk per cow
per year. The reason behind this is that small farms and areas where
production is very low have much to do to improve their productivity
before applying innovative solutions such as ours. Their improvement
dollars are probably better spent somewhere else. In addition, a high
production level strain animal health therefore requires the monitoring
system more than those herds of low production.
3. Target farms may have some previous experience
with tags and computers. This solution being computerized, we foresee
an easier access to those farmers who already use some form of computerization
than those who do not do. Farms that have no other automation experience
however may also use the technology.
4. The technology is not dependent on type of lodging
of the animals, they may be pasturing or in sheds, as long as they
need to pass through a known point every day at least once. This may
be the watering spot, or the milking machine, etc., the reader antenna
will be installed for download of the information collected during
the day.
Size of immediate target niche:
Based on our investigation of the markets as presented above, we
estimate the immediate market size is therefore above 4 million
animals in close to 20,000 dairy farms.
Value Proposition:
The cost of the metabolic diseases only and conditions according
to industry bibliography to be at least $261.3 per cow per annum,
total tag cost per cow per annum will be much inexpensive.
The technology is suggested as a solution for animal health monitoring
to the Dairy industry, beef industry and for the 'food safety' production
process
