Mastitis
Israel, commercial dairy, May 2003
At this case the Mastitis has no influence upon the Rumination
rate.
Cow’s rumen shows no change but the udder is infected.
Conclusion:
Udder health is not always a good indication for cow/rumen health.
Israel, commercial dairy, February - March 2003
Both Milk production and Rumination rate reduced at the same day
(rumination rate 8 hours earlier then milk production)
At the second and third day of the event the Rumination activity
was completely gone, only after a good treatment on the 9th, the
Rumination rate was dramatically increased almost to its previous
level. For the next six days the Rumination rate was reasonable
but Milk production was zero.
Conclusion:
Ones again the Rumination rate proved to be a grate indication for
the cow overall health condition. The cow showed clear and good
response to the medical treatment, this could be seen only by the
Rumination rate. The cow has well appetite while the udder tissue
needed more time to recover
